PRIVATE Swim LESSONS

These are private 30-minute lessons, limited to 1-2 swimmers. Ages 3 and up.

Siblings are welcome to swim together. If 3 siblings are swimming, please book 2 lessons/visit (an hour). Then we will divide the time among the swimmers due to gaps in age and skills.

If scheduling with a friend, one family will purchase/schedule the lessons. Pairings of similar age and ability are pre-arranged by parents.

Frequently Asked Questions & Policies

WEATHER

Classes meet rain or shine, but class is canceled if there is severe weather in the area. Use the online registration calendar to reschedule weather cancelations.

GOGGLES

If purchasing goggles, look for a proper fit: without using strap, hold goggles to eyes, gently press into sockets, let go, they should remain in place, if not try a different style.

Any Speedo googles - sized Kids or Junior - with a one-piece flexible frame and wide straps should provide a good fit.

SUPERVISION

A responsible adult is to remain on premises for the duration of lesson. Non-swimming children must be supervised at all times. Use of any yard or play equipment is at your own risk.

Swim Team

See this page.

ATTIRE

In the interest and health of all students: swimmers under the age of 3 OR children not fully potty trained MUST wear a disposable swim diaper AND a snug-fitting reusable swim diaper (similar to iPlay shown below).

Girls should wear a one-piece suit. Well-fitting swim shirts or rash guards make holding a child easier and are recommended for all children. Children should be in their suits BEFORE they get to class.

OBSERVING

Many children are distracted and/or less willing to attempt new skills when a parent/caregiver is poolside, so please wait away from the immediate pool area. If desired, you can easily observe the lesson from nearby. Plan to watch poolside on your last day. Woohoo! :)

FEAR

There are usually no tears, however some children are naturally more frightened of water or new situations than others—and some are just very dramatic. :) Many kids will feel pushed beyond their comfort zone at some point. Please let me know if you feel your child is being pushed too much or not enough.

SPECIAL NEEDS

I work with special needs children. Contact me for more information.

Water Safety

WATER Watcher

Always have a designated Water Watcher actively supervising without distractions. More resources.

FOCUS ON FLOATS

Floating is a skill often overlooked by teachers or parents eager to see children swim from point A to point B. Your swimmer will be far better off if they master floating first.

Other Good Things To Know

RESTROOM

Have your child use the restroom before arriving for class.

SUNSCREEN

Apply sunscreen at least 25 minutes before your lesson.

VIDEO & PRIVACY

For privacy, do not video lessons and share online. Thank you.

LAST DAY

Please remind the instructor when it is your last lesson. This ensures your child's receives his/her swim chart and other last day goodies.

LONG HAIR

Long hair should be securely pulled away from the face.

EARS

Please speak with your pediatrician about any ear concerns.

ALLERGIES

Children receive a sweet treat on their last day. Notify me in advance of any allergies.
